Are you bored or stressed? Just paint by the numbers
You don't have to be a professional painter, you just create a work of art. Scientists say that if you are bored or stressed out, you can just paint anything you need to clear your head. Your work does not necessarily have to be exhibited in the National Gallery, you can keep your painting for your use only.
Margaret N., an IT analyst, says: “I am not a very good painter. I just paint to give my mind the relaxation it needs. There are a huge number of thoughts constantly spinning in my head, and to stop this carousel, I started painting. Once, when I was bored, I went to a nearby stationery store and bought a sketchbook and color sketches. When I got home, I chose a design and started drawing it on the sketchbook. It really calmed me for the entire 30 minutes. Then I started painting regularly. I always copied drawings and painted just to kill time and get rid of stress. I don't want to exhibit my drawings anywhere, so it doesn't bother me that they're not originals. I don't even keep them anywhere, I just draw, paint, kill time and then get rid of the drawings. Sometimes I buy children's coloring books and draw animated characters, or I paint online. This habit, which I developed, helps me kill boredom and I haven't been so stressed lately. ”

Adele H., says: “When my three-year-old son is painting, I sit next to him and I also paint. It seems calming to me. Today I sit with him every day and we paint together".

Clinical psychologist Keerti Pai says, “Painting is a great stress reliever. The limbic system in the brain controls your emotions, and when you do art, it affects that system, calms the mind, and then relaxes you. ” Some may start attending art courses.

Sharanya Shivakumar, a media specialist, says: “I have always been fascinated by art. My sisters follow up painting and handicrafts and I learned it from them. I started attending art courses myself and painted whenever I had at least some time to do so. Although I work a lot, I always set aside one or two hours for my hobby. Since I've been attending art courses for a long time, I make sure to brush up my skills and do a project once in a while. I used to spend a lot of time on the phone and I was almost addicted to it. To get rid of this addiction, I started drawing and painting. It calms me down and it has a relaxing effect. The more I do, the more I want to learn. Nowadays, everything is available on the Internet and I use it to improve my skills. I do it as a hobby, but I look forward to exhibiting my work sometime. ”

Even professional artists agree that painting calms the mind. Yuvan Bothi Sathuvar, the artist, says: “Painting is like meditation for me. When I paint, I forget about the world around me and all its difficulties. There is no space in my mind at that moment, painting keeps me one hundred percent busy. One small recommendation for people who want to paint - when you tell a child to draw an elephant, the child will draw with his own creativity. Do the same, just draw what comes to mind. You should try to keep your childhood creativity and carefree life alive. ” It is believed that the colors you choose for your image play a key role. If you are sad, choose bright colors and start painting. It will improve your mood. And to make it even more effective, you can paint in a group. You can just meet a few friends and paint something.
